My Hoops ‘n Pups class is designed to help create an unbreakable bond between you and your puppy, while you have fun learning a new game that will give you the control you want regardless of the situation you find yourself in. .
During the class we will cover the following topics:
Safely introduce your puppy to the various pieces of equipment used in hoopers, such as the hoops, barrels, tunnels, gates and dash mats.
Work on your puppy’s coordination to improve body awareness and reduce the risk of injuries.
Teach your puppy when he needs to focus on you and when to focus on the game of hoopers.
Teach your puppy to wait.
Teach your puppy to complete short sequences of equipment, slowly increasing until you and our puppy can complete a short flowing course.
Teach you how to use play as a reward.
Directions: Teach your puppy to turn left and right on cue.
Distance: Teach you how to keep control as puppy moves further away from us.
Teach you how to control your puppy’s speed and ensure success on the course.

What is Hoopers?
Hoopers is a low-impact fast-paced dog sport, which came over from the USA to the UK in 2017, this latest dog sport is taking the UK by storm.
In this game, you and your dog must complete flowing courses of hoops and low-impact equipment, like tunnels and barrels. You can either run with your dog or you can choose to handle your dog from a distance.
Who can Play?
Any Dog Can Play, the smallest and biggest dogs can join in the fun. Canine Hoopers is an all-inclusive sport and caters for dogs and handlers of all abilities and ages, including those less mobile.
What will Hoopers classes do for me and my puppy?
You will learn how to control your dog off lead, making your walks together more enjoyable.
Your dog will learn self-control and enjoy the mental challenge.
Your dog will learn to focus and take direction from you.
But most important of all: You will have fun, training and playing with your dog.
What training methods are used to teach Hoopers?
Positive force-free reward-based methods are used to teach the skills required to complete the hoopers courses. No verbal or physical corrections are allowed.
What, Where, When?
Classes are limited to 4 dog and handler teams per session.
Hoops ‘n Pups Classes are held at:
Milborne St Andrews Sports Ground.
On Wednesday afternoons from 2 pm to 3 pm.

Hoops ‘n Pups Foundation course
8 week course – 1 hr each week
3 Months Access to the Hoopers specific pages on our membership site, containing valuable resources such as training videos showing foundation body awareness exercises, warm-up and cool-down games to protect your dog from injuries, instructional videos on basic hoopers skills that you can practice at home.
